TACKLE FOR THE KINGS

A two-handed eight, nine or ten weight rod, usually 12′ 6″-14 feet, is perfect for the job. The question of the lighter eight weight or the heavier ten is a matter of personal taste and temper. We recommend bringing a back up rod.

The fly reel must have a great drag system and hold at least 400 yards of 50-80 lbs backing. Bring spare backing!

We prefer to cast Skagit shooting heads with sink tips of 15 to 18 feet. Sink 6, T11, T-14 and T-17 tips should keep you covered in most situations. Bring a spare fly line!

Our leaders ends in a tippet of 0,40–0,45 mm, that’s about 30–40 lbs.
